Rhodotorula Strains Isolated from Seawater That Can Biotransform Raw Glycerol into Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA) and Carotenoids for Animal Nutrition

چکیده

Due to the overexploitation of industrial fisheries, as principal source fish oil, well increasing replacement synthetic pigments for animal nutrition, we need find sustainable sources these essential nutrient productions. Marine Rhodotorula strains NCYC4007 and NCYC1146 were used determine biosynthesis docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) carotenoids by biotransforming raw glycerol, a waste product biodiesel. To evaluate presence inhibitory substances in both also grown analytical grade glycerol glucose main carbon separately. With showed significant correlation between DHA production intracellular phosphorous concentrations. NCYC1146, new strain genetically described this work, can produce canthaxanthin but only when is source. Then, could synthesize phospholipid, depends on kind NCYC1146. Finally, malate dehydrogenase activity be proxy metabolisms marine Rhodotorula. This first evidence that are capable synthesizing using an alternative low-cost potentially scale their nutrition.

Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA)

Handling & Preparation Instructions This purified fatty acid is liquid at room temperature (oil) and not soluble in water. The product is supplied sterile. It can be solubilized in undiluted serum, ethanol or DMSO. The solubility of Docosahexaenoic acid in ethanol is at least 100 mg/ml. Docosahexaenoic acid has a solubility of 1 mg/ml in a solution of 0.15 M Tris-HCL (pH 8.5). We strongly recom...

Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA) Monograph

Introduction Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) is an omega-3 fatty acid that falls into the larger category of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs). Although many chronic conditions are associated with excessive intake of dietary saturated and trans fatty acids (including obesity, insulin resistance, coronary heart disease, and some forms of cancer), research shows omega-3 fatty acids, including DHA, a...

Health benefits of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA)

Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) is essential for the growth and functional development of the brain in infants. DHA is also required for maintenance of normal brain function in adults. The inclusion of plentiful DHA in the diet improves learning ability, whereas deficiencies of DHA are associated with deficits in learning. DHA is taken up by the brain in preference to other fatty acids. The turnover...

Producing docosahexaenoic acid (DHA)-rich algae from biodiesel-derived crude glycerol: effects of impurities on DHA production and algal biomass composition.

Crude glycerol is the primary byproduct of the biodiesel industry. Producing docosahexaenoic acid (DHA, 22:6 n-3) through fermentation of the alga Schizochytrium limacinum on crude glycerol provides a unique opportunity to utilize a large quantity of this byproduct. The objective of this work is to investigate the effects of impurities contained in the crude glycerol on DHA production and algal...

Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and cardiovascular disease risk factors.

Numerous epidemiological and controlled interventional trials have supported the health benefits of long-chain omega-3 fatty acids in the form of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA, 22:6n-3) plus eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA, 20:5n-3) from fish and fish oils as well as from algal sources. The beneficial effects on cardiovascular disease and related mortality including various risk factors for cardiovascul...
